• Successful candidates will have demonstrated their understanding of the different pension options applicable to individuals and companies in the UK who wish to make provisions for themselves and or their employees in retirement.
• Candidates will have a good knowledge of the different phases of accumulating capital and building scheme retirement benefits that individuals can utilise to generate an income in retirement and / or have access to capital should they prefer.
• Candidates will know how the taxation system is applicable in each stage of the pension planning process relevant to UK based pension funds.
Candidates will be able to demonstrate an understanding of and the ability to analyse the main tax and legal frameworks; that govern retirement benefits under registered pension schemes in the UK.
They will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the features of defined contribution and defined benefit pensions, as well as state retirement benefits available to individuals and the relevant pension schemes available to Companies including workplace pensions.
Their knowledge will include understanding the risks and suitability of individuals who may have previously contracted out of the various State Second Pension schemes.
