The IF1 module is relevant to anyone working for an insurance company, broker or reinsurer. They may be used by an employer as a means of teaching the fundamentals of insurance or as the first module towards the qualification. This course can be undertaken by apprentices, new or experienced employees.
These include include understanding motor, health, package and property insurance, pecuniary and liability insurances alongside underwriting, policy wordings, claims handling and settlement and customer service.
The IF1 module is mandatory for the CII level 3 Certificate in Insurance and the knowledge learned from this is regarded by many as the foundation level to the industry.
The course will work through the CII syllabus, ensuring that the learners are both able to understand the knowledge and be able to apply this to their job role and be prepared to take the CII exam. Topics covered include the insurance environment, risk management and the underpinning common law principles as they apply to insurance, with extra focus being placed on the main legal and regulatory requirements and consumer protection.
