Audience
The M81 module is relevant to anyone working for an insurance company, broker or reinsurer and who wishes to achieve a professional qualification and designation. The qualifications can be undertaken by apprentices, new or experienced employees.
Learning Outcomes
These include understanding the regulatory and legal environment in which insurance brokers operate. Further it covers the role of a broker in the: negotiation and placing of insurance business, in the creation of insurance programmes and the selection of insurers as well as the role of a broker in the claim process.
Course Overview
The M81 module is optional for the CII level 4 Diploma in Insurance, and will work through the CII syllabus, ensuring learners are both able to understand the knowledge and be able to apply this to their job
role and be prepared for the exam. This is a one-day course, based on the expectation that learners will first complete the M05 and M92 modules which are mandatory for the level 4 qualification and provide a good foundation for this module. Particular focus will be given to the areas of the regulatory and legal environment for brokers, the role of the broker in the placing of insurance risk and the design and operation of insurance programmes as these are the areas in which a taught approach and the working of examples can add the most value for a learner.
