Learning Outcomes
• Candidates will be able to understand both the consumer and retail factors and the trends relevant to financial protection
• Understand the areas of need for protection planning and the main sources of financial protection for domestic and business clients, as well as understanding the role and limitations of both the State benefits and the state / local authority funded solutions for financial protection
• Understand the taxation treatment of life assurance and pension based protection policies, as well as the range, structure and application of income protection and critical insurance options to meet financial protection needs for individuals and businesses.
Course Overview
This course will give candidates the ability to analyse the purpose and scope of financial protection products and how they interact with State benefits.
Candidates will also be able to distinguish the main features and functions of the different types of contracts and how they are arranged in order to meet the individual client's protection needs. They will also be able to identify the main protection needs of both individuals and businesses and be able to assess how the various types of protection products dovetail - for both domestic and business clients to protect their respective needs and financial liabilities.
